Close“When I undertook the 3-day IOSH course with Harrier Health & Safety training providers, the information was sent in plenty of time so I knew the details of the course and what was expected from it.
The training provider was very welcoming and friendly from day one. She helped deliver the course content in an understanding and clear manner and even gave extra time to the people who were undertaking the course who had a few learning difficulties, such as myself who is dyslexic.
She gave us a fair amount of time to review each section and helped us to understand parts we did not pick up on the first time around. There were some good moments during the presentations which allowed for interaction in the group which was great.
I was a little nervous about the test due to struggling with dyslexia, but extra time was given to help with this, so I felt comfortable in the exam. This IOSH course will allow me to progress in my role, develop my career and give me health and safety knowledge that will allow me to achieve a certified ice technician role in my job.

There are 3 things that I really love about what I do. The first is variety. I get to work on so many events that no two events, locations, load-ins, or days are ever the same. There are two things that I enjoy most about what I do; getting to know the clients that I work with, and the end result. The thing I enjoy most about my job is the ability to deliver peace of mind and remove burdens giving the client gets that warm, comforting feeling that they are safe in your knowledge. I’ve worked at events from large to small and they all feel special in their own way, being part of the Queens Funeral was extraordinary and probably the biggest honour of my life, but there is something really nice about closing a site after a TV show or festival when we all go home safe and sound after delivering the project. When clients work with me, they can expect hard work, commitment, standards and interaction. I pride myself on identifying and rectifying issues with the lowest possible impact on the event.

Having experience in both Crowd Management and Health & Safety enables me to look at a situation from a broader perspective and gives me the confidence to advise on both areas. Fortunately, I remain calm under pressure and have a thick skin, which is essential in a control room environment.

In my role at Harrier as an Event Safety Advisor, I provide onsite safety support, offering real-time advice and incident response while ensuring plans are implemented effectively across the event lifecycle.
My career began in hospitality business management, which means I combine commercial awareness with calm, solution-focused working. I bring a risk-based approach grounded in legal compliance, realistic impact and practical solutions, shaped by an understanding of the unique pace and pressures of live event delivery.

Taking crowd movement, even in its simplest terms during ingress and egress and being able to forecast minute by minute what a crowd will look like, what will happen in the coming minutes is a great aid to Safety Officers and Safety professionals in managing both physical and human resources in advance of forecasted crowd movements.
With Harrier, I get to plan in advance but then I am lucky to be able to work with some wonderful teams in managing those predicted crowd flows either from the Control Room or on the ground. And it’s great, when the forecast comes to fruition! So, working with venues, be they club size through to arenas or stadiums, and of course the greenfield sites where I grew up, to maximise customer experience and safety whilst, hand in hand, protecting or maximising revenue by optimising customer spaces, dwell times and capacities is where I’m at.

Since entering the industry in Festival Event Management and Technical Production, I have developed my knowledge of stage rigging, technical production, pyro, SFX and laser safety. This knowledge and experience have been developed and implemented working with Harrier on a variety of events.
Due to my wide personal knowledge and past experiences of working on events, I further add value to the Harrier Team, having worked in technical production and events management. I find it easier to understand how event management teams and contractors work and what is reasonably practicable.
